In the heady days of the Gold Rush, White Oaks was a thriving gold mining town albeit one with a reputation as a rough and tumble kinda place. In the late 1800‘s, it’s saloons and brothels were welcoming places for the likes of Billy the Kid and Sheriff Pat Garrett. Still standing today is a tiny brick building that once was a lawyer's office then a surveyor's office until it became the No Scum Allowed Saloon.
Bullet holes dotted the walls, you see, White Oaks had a reputation of being a real rough place and No Scum was the epicenter of this rough place. Once the gold ran out and the railroad stopped running through White Oaks, the town became a virtual ghost town, except for
No Scum Allowed Saloon thriving to this day, it’s very presence a monument to the heyday of the Wild West.
