Located at the crossroads of Hwys. 54 and 380, Carrizozo enjoys four distinct yet mild seasons. “Zozo” sits at 5425 ft. above sea level with an annual rainfall of 12-14 inches and 10-15% humidity. With this perfectly temperate climate, town folk are surrounded by snow-capped peaks in the winter, even as snowfall in Zozo rarely sees much accumulation.
The location for "The Book of Eli" starring Denzel Washinton in 2009, Carrizozo is the county seat of Lincoln County, and houses the county courthouse and sheriff's offices. The town’s airport has a 4900 ft. runway which can accomodate private and small aircraft. There is also a vintage rail yard which still sees the Union Pacific Rail Road come through Carrizozo on a daily basis. There are just under 1000 friendly people in Carrizozo and they all welcome the film industry to their beloved Zozo.
